About

logicallibertyWelcome to the Logical Liberty Blog:

My name is Lewis and I am an American! There is nothing particularly interesting to tell you about myself but luckily “I” am not what this blog is about.

I never imagined starting a blog but during the last few years several things have happened to me that reminded me what is most important in life.

GOD! FAMILY! and FREEDOM!

In 2006 I was diagnosed with Cancer. Thanks to my wife, my doctors, and to God I beat it. I have also had the privilege of working overseas in support of the United States military. I can confirm from personal experience (over 2 years in Iraq) that our military is the most professional military in the world! Just ask any Iraqi citizen you meet on the streets of Baghdad. I have, and most of them hope that we wait to leave Iraq until their government has learned how to be as decent and honorable as the American Solders, Marines, Airmen, and Sailors they have come to trust, respect, and even depend on. I am amazed at how professional our service men and women are over here. Many of them are still teenagers, most are under the age of 25! But they stand their posts and do their jobs. They respect and help the local citizens. During mortar attacks and gun battles they stand their ground and protect the Iraqis and the civilians that work over here in support. The Iraqi people I meet tell me that they always know that they will be treated decently by Americans.

I have come to realize that Americans are different. We are unique in the world. Americans are not a nationality or race. An American is someone who believes in an idea. An idea that was written down over 200 years ago. The idea that individuals have rights. That any individual that is given access to these rights has the potential to accomplish almost anything and doesn’t need a government to provide them with anything except the protection of those rights. An American also understands that governments do not grant us our rights and must be controlled to prevent them from taking away these rights.

I have found myself almost compelled to start this blog as I have watched with frustration, and many times anger as the ideas that my country was founded upon (Individual Liberty, personal responsibility, capitalism, limited government, family, and most importantly God) are trampled on, distorted, and ridiculed in the news, in the movies and TV, and in our schools and universities.

My intent is to try to be non-partisan. There are more than enough left bashing conservative blogs out there already. I don’t think that name calling gets us anywhere. It is true that most of the people who know me would say that I am a conservative but I consider myself a patriot. I want to try and have a conversation. Many people, many that were born in America, don’t understand or think about the ideas that our country was founded on and how these simple ideas, if put into practice, can create a society that provides everything that we all want for ourselves, our families, our friends, our fellow Americans, and for every new immigrant that is lucky enough to come to our wonderful country.

So here goes. I hope that I can play even a small part in advancing the cause of Liberty.

Thank you for visiting my blog and God Bless!

An American!
