I have created a new page with some of Abraham Lincoln’s famous and not so famous quotes. I just don’t think a blog about liberty, America, and patriotism, would be complete without including the greatest president!
Clicking on his name on the page will take to his Wikipedia page. I have also included a link to a website dedicated to him and a few that link directly to the 2nd Inaugural Address, and the Gettysburg Address.
For those of you out there that doubt whether Lincoln was opposed to slavery and to those who accept that he was opposed to slavery but still think that he was a racist please look at the dates of the quotes provided on his page and ask yourself honestly. If I had lived in the same place and time would I come close to measuring up to this man? Who in spite of ridicule and many times physical danger stood up against the institution of slavery throughout his life long before the Civil War started. He repeatedly defended his belief that slavery was evil. He understood the limits of his or anyone elses ability to end it without bloodshed and he did not want to start a Civil War. His admitted bias was a reflection of the time and place in which he lived. If you still are not convinced that Abraham Lincoln was a great man who made every effort to do the right thing then I don’t think there is anything else that can be said to you because you have chosen to believe a lie.
